What is the best thing about being your age?

72 it’s just a number. I believe you are not your age… you are your energy.

What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?

Childhood poverty, father abandoning family taught me to be self reliant and most importantly to pay it forward.

What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?

Traveling to the Amazon.

​What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Health and family.

​What is your most treasured possession?

Family.

​What advice would you give your younger self?

KNOW your worth. Love doesn’t thrive on convenience it thrives on commitment.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Family…losing over 100 lbs, surviving an abusive relationship.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’m a shoe hoarder. 🤣

What is your greatest extravagance?

My health.

What is a trait you are most proud of?

Forgiveness. Sometimes the person who hurt you won’t have the answers. You have to find them yourself. They won’t have the reasons. You have to learn them yourself. They won’t give you closure. You have to do that yourself. Remember if we don’t heal the pain of our past...we will bleed all over our future.

Words of wisdom to younger women

I’ve learned the reality of life is that we will hear more no’s than we hear yes's. Don’t be afraid of no’s. Don’t be afraid of failure, but be terrified of regret. In our lifetime we will have a hundred moments that will be filled with someone telling you no. That is the moment purpose drops in our laps. My mother taught me if someone tells you no, you are talking to the wrong person.

Additional thoughts on aging..

Yeah, you look at life differently because you know you have less years ahead of you than behind you. You know what I love most about aging? I get to live.
