50 Over 50 Project for 2020
"Aging...you might as well go with it, cuz it's gonna happen whether you like it or not. Be grateful and try and speak only words of kindness."
Profession: Registered Nurse
(Side Hustle: Dance Teacher/Actor)
What advice would you give your younger self?
Trust your instinct and go with it. You don't have to please everyone. You should have quit that job, you should have moved to Santa Barbara OR New York, but you didn't and that's OK.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I haven't accomplished it yet, but when I do, you'll know.
What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?
Did a bit of stand-up comedy (I'm not done yet) and travelled to Thailand before the Covid-19 shutdown to visit my brother.
What is your greatest extravagance?
botox and filler, massage.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Feeling good, feeling healthy, having someone to love, and love me. Having a job, a nice home, living in paradise, good wine, good friends, good food, and pets!
What is a trait you are most proud of?
Doing a good job at work. I always look for the feedback cards from clients and hope my name was mentioned as someone who provided good care. Even though, it's not about me, I still look for that. I also am so proud of being cast in some productions and I hope I hope I hope I've made the directors and producers happy with my work.
What is your greatest fear?
Not being able to breath either by drowning or a fire. Wonder if it's past life stuff. Tonight even, I realized I left the coffee maker on and although coffee was just burned to a crisp at the bottom of the pot, I had heart palpitations when I found it.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My life would be waaay different if I were about 8 inches taller. Although, I don't mind being short (5'0") my life would have taken a totally different turn.
What do you most value in your friends?
An easy going nature, good listening, good insight, kindness, sense of humor.
What is your motto or favorite quote?
It could always be worse.
Additional thoughts for younger women....
Always wash your face before bed and brush your teeth. Always drink lots of water and even if you eat junk food, include good organic veggies and fruit.
Don't give in to age and succumb to looking like a matronly grandma. It's ok to be a hot grandma! If you've got it, flaunt it! Aaaand, realize, you never know what someone else is going through, so try and be kind even if someone is weird. Live each day as if it's the last..and quite frankly, with the recent events of the state of our world, it just might be. Don't pass up any opportunities and try not to live in regret. It is what it is.
