Age: 60
Profession: Costume design teacher to high functioning disabled adults.

What is the best thing about being your age?
I have had such a rich life and at 60 I feel like there is still more to do. And I finally have time to devote to my hobbies.

What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?
I survived a major car accident that required me to have 18 surgeries and to stay in a hospital for 8 months. I am so much stronger now because I have learned that you cannot always be in control and that’s okay. I’ve learned to go with the flow. I also realized that everyone has limitations and now that I’m disabled, my limitation is just different than someone else’s. Sometimes I forget that I am disabled. LOL.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Realizing I wanted to be a teacher and becoming one.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Playing board games all day with my friends or family.

What is your most treasured possession?
My custom scrabble board.

What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?
Traveled to Japan for 3 weeks with my husband and son.

What is your greatest extravagance?
Spending too much money on fabric and games!

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wish I had thicker hair.

What is a trait you are most proud of?
I am welcoming and honest.

What is your greatest fear?
I’ve been through a lot, I’m not really afraid of much – I do have a fear of snakes though.

What do you most value in your friends?

What advice would you give your younger self?
Follow YOUR dreams, and don’t let anyone else dictate what you should do. Takes risks and live each day as if it were your last.

What is your motto or favorite quote?
A line from a Hebrew song:
im tir-Tuz Ein so a ga da
If you will it, it is no dream

Advice to younger women...
Follow your heart – you know deep in your soul what you want to achieve. Don’t let conditions, or money, or anything else stop you from getting there. It might take time, but in the end you’ll be so glad you did.
