"You are just fine the way you are. You will look back on these days and WISH you had this body with all the 'faults' you think you have right now."
Profession: Retired special education teacher for students with severe disabilities
What is the best thing about being your age?
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Going back to school and getting my teaching credential while working full time and raising my kids as a single mom.
What is your most treasured possession?
A painting I did of my kids when they were little.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A baby's laughter.
What is a trait you are most proud of?
What is your greatest fear?
Being incapacitated (paralyzing stroke or something like that).
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
More self discipline.
What is your greatest extravagance?
On an on-going basis - manicures and pedicures. Overall - having my portrait done. ;-)
What do you most value in your friends?
Loyalty, humor and discretion.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Have more self-confidence. Stand up for yourself. Don't be such a people pleaser. Make good use of your youth. You are worthy. You will come to be known as someone with strength and compassion. You will have confidence. Many will love and respect you. Yes, YOU. You were not put on this earth to be some man's helpmate. You have quiet power and wisdom that lies within you. Recognize it. Nurture it.
What is your motto or favorite quote?
"This too shall pass."
Additional thought for younger women...
As you travel on your journey there will be some mighty blows. These make you stronger, more resilient, and more compassionate.
