What is the best thing about being your age?
Perspective–seeing the bigger picture. Getting off the treadmill of ambition and striving. Gratitude for the gifts and life experiences that brought me to this moment.
What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?
Loss of loved ones, relationships, some diminishment of abilities.
What is your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?
World travel, especially to the countries of my ancestors. Writing and performing several monologues and sharing myself vulnerably with an audience. Being a grandmother. Not yet checked off the list but in process . . . I'm actively working on a book of my personal essays and poetry.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Being at peace with myself. Accepting what is. Being a goofball with my husband. Being surrounded by beautiful nature and delightful company. Dancing to the music. Dead-heading flowers in my garden on a sunny morning. A hot bath. A long luxurious massage.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I'd like to be less judgmental and critical of myself and others.
what is your greatest extravagance?
Massage. Clothes (I have too many!).
What is your most treasured possession?
Vision, mobility, good health. My love of beauty. Materially, my photo and video collection, a few sacred objects, jewelry and family keepsakes.
what do you consider your greatest achievement?
The love I give and receive. My daughter. The late in life love I share with my husband. My 50+ years of yoga practice. Some of my video documentary projects and writing.
What is a trait you are most proud of?
My ability to be present. My flexibility.
What do you most value in your friends?
Authenticity. Emotional intelligence. Humor. Presence. Being seen and supported.
