"If closed doors along a hallway represent possibilities for love, career, personal interests, and other life opportunities – create keys on your keyring to open the doors of your desire."
What is the best thing about being your age?
Living with confidence, a greater sense of calm, and having more choices.
What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?
One significant hardship hit me in my late 30's. After a serious burn injury, it appeared that my options for career, social interactions and hobbies would be greatly limited. Instead, this tragedy became a powerful test and grew my confidence, my strength, and reaffirmed my beliefs and priorities. It reinforced the “bring it on” attitude that drives me today.
What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?
I have checked a whole lot of travel off my bucket list. Growing up in a large family, we did not travel much. Since then, I have had the opportunity to visit over 30 countries and connect with fascinating traditions, history, locals, and people from around the globe.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
For me, perfect happiness is expressed in a quiet moment in nature. Warm sunlight, a stunning night sky, fresh landscapes, crashing waves, and on.
What is your most treasured possession? Heirlooms and mementos from my grandparents. Family is important and physical objects that connect me to their legacy, spirt and memory are very meaningful to me.
what do you consider your greatest achievement?
Education. I am the first in my family to earn a college degree and I independently planned how to get into college, paid for my education, and then went on to complete a master’s degree.
What is a trait you are most proud of?
I am most proud of being kind. I enjoy helping people around me be better, stronger, and happier.
what is your greatest extravagance?
My greatest extravagance is a fast car. I love the sound of a powerful engine, the feel of quick acceleration, and the smoothness of well-handled curves. Throw in a great sounding stereo and that’s heaven.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wish I could change my hand-eye coordination. I am athletic, but not coordinated, and make a horrible tennis, golf or volleyball partner.
What do you most value in your friends?
I value my friends' honesty, loyalty, intelligence, perspective – and FUN!
What is your motto or favorite quote?
Motto: Carpe Diem!
Favorite Quote: “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” – Pablo Picasso What advice would you give your younger self?
Trust yourself and live by your rules.
