What is the best thing about being your age?

I appreciate the life I’ve lived and the life I’m living. I take nothing for granted. Every day is a gift.

What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?

My life’s journey has been peppered with pain, trauma, loss and joy. Being a woman of color in this country is a hardship unto itself and being told what I can and can’t do, who I should be, how I should be is always challenging. I see the grace in my life and I’m grateful. I trust myself and my instincts more. Moving beyond the noise of life and the expectations of others to connect more deeply with myself continues to change my life.

What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?

Creating family.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

I don’t believe in perfect happiness. I find joy being present in the moment. My life is perfect in its imperfection. Trick question.

What is your most treasured possession? My health.

what do you consider your greatest achievement?

Being a conduit to create amazing human beings.

What is a trait you are most proud of?

My ability to care easily and see the good in others.

what is your greatest extravagance?

Technology and cars.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Not waiting so long to find my strength and courage.

What do you most value in your friends?

Authentic connections, trust and honesty.

What is your motto or favorite quote?

Don’t let anyone take away your peace! What advice would you give your younger self?

Believe that you’re worthy and take the chance. Let faith guide you. Trust in yourself.

Words of wisdom for younger women...

You can’t change where you’ve been. Choose to live your best life. Living is the journey to who you really are. Be yourself, love yourself. No one can love you more.

Additional Thoughts...
