Age: 62

"Don’t think you’re old before your time!

I thought I was old in my 30s & 40s. I look back on that now and think what a waste, I should have treasured that time of my life more than I did."

age: 62  profession:  Retired Admin Assistant/Legal Secretary and Former Retail Therapist

What is the best thing about being your age?

Not having to wake up by an alarm clock and the freedom to be the boss of me!

What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?

I lost my beloved dad, mom, and big brother all within one year. And then this year, the loss of theIr house I called home for 40 years. Toughest time of my life. Not sure it has made me stronger...possibly.  I just try to take each day as it comes and live the best life I can, as I know they would want me to.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Letting life unfold naturally and always being true to myself without making any excuses – being someone my Grandmother, whom I adored, would be proud of.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
It’s as simple as a beautiful sunshiny day. Throw in a happy place and coffee or lunch with a great friend or friends. Summer outdoor concerts or seeing an artist live is also my idea of perfect happiness.

What is your most treasured possession?
Old family photos, jewelry, and keepsakes that belonged to my Mom and Grandmother; my two kitties.

What is your greatest extravagance?

My Cayman and monthly hair appointments.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My laziness!

What is a trait you are most proud of?

Honesty, thoughtfulness, sense of humor, loyalty.

What is your greatest fear?

Losing my significant other and my dear sister.

What do you most value in your friends?

Loyalty, down to earthness, honesty, like-minded, warm and nurturing, great sense of humor, those who don’t judge.

What advice would you give your younger self?
Think about what it is you are good at and enjoy doing and explore that as a possible occupation. Then take the steps to make it happen. Don’t just do whatever pays the bills.

What is your motto or favorite quote?

“Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” – John Lennon

Advice to younger women...

Don’t think you’re old before your time!  I thought I was old in my 30s and 40s.  I look back on that now and think what a waste, I should have treasured that time of my life more than I did.
