age: 68 profession: Ceramic Artist/Kitchen Designer
What is the best thing about being your age?
Finally knowing and accepting myself exactly as I am. Having the courage to speak my truth and live my life as a strong and independent woman.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
27+ years of active sobriety and the positive changes I have made since I became sober.
What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?
After 40+ years, I have returned to my original passion of working with clay!
What is your most treasured possession?
Not really a possession, but I most treasure my sobriety and my son and our relationship.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
I honestly don’t know what perfect happiness is so a tough question to answer. The best I can do is:
To be healthy, happy and serene, without financial insecurity, living near my son and doing the things I love best.
What is a trait you are most proud of?
My ability to be honest with myself and make changes where changes are needed, perseverance, humility, honesty, creativity and compassion.
What is your greatest fear?
While I am very independent, I have not been in any sort of relationship for over 15 years. I do have the fear of never having anyone love or desire me, remaining and dying alone.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
The sometimes tendency to compare myself and my life to others…and coming up short or feeling “less than” or not good enough. I recognize this as chatter from my childhood but these feelings do crop up, sometimes when I least expect it…
What do you most value in your friends?
Integrity, honesty, kindness, compassion and the ability to walk your talk!
What is your motto or favorite quote?
To thine own self be true.
