What is the best thing about being your age?

I have a greater sense of self, of who I am, my values, what is important to me, how and with whom I choose to spend my time. I am grateful to have enough income to enjoy many activities and experiences.

What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?

I am fortunate not to have experienced true hardships, but I have faced challenges such as toxic work environments, raising a child with autism, divorce, and the death of my father. I’ve gained strength and resilience through these experiences, learning that I need not navigate those situations alone, that it is an act of self-care to walk away from harmful relationships even when you love someone, that finding acceptance allows me to redirect my energy and efforts to actions that enable me to flourish and heal.

What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?

Paragliding lessons! I hope to fly solo soon!

What is a trait you are most proud of?

I am proud of my courage and willingness to do hard things in the face of fear.

What do you most value in your friends?

I value their humor, compassion, willingness to go to any length, honesty, and non-judgmental acceptance.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Learn how to cook delicious, healthy meals. It is not very difficult… take a class. Exercise every day, even if it is just a 10-minute walk. Your health later in life will be dramatically improved by healthy habits. Do not remain in situations or relationships that are hurtful, chip away at your sense of worth, or contribute to long-term stress. Take more trips and have more adventures! Always buy the concert tickets. Spend more time outside, go to the beach, go hiking in the redwoods… you will find your spiritual source in Nature.

What is your motto or favorite quote?

Together we can make it!

Words of wisdom for younger women

You are stronger and more resourceful than you realize. Having a loving, nurturing group of supportive people in your life is invaluable…make the effort to cultivate a posse. It’s okay to make mistakes, we learn by doing. Perfectionism keeps us from crossing the start line, embrace “good enough” and enjoy the process. Be kind and nurturing to yourself, you are a lovable child of God.
