"Physical, mental, and emotional health, and healthy relationships are the base of everything else in life. Without health, it’s much more difficult to accomplish what you want, need, and aspire to do. With health, one can reach their full potential."

AGE: 49

PROFESSION: Corporate Learning Program Manager

What is the best thing about being your age?

I am a member of the Gen X generation. We are one of the smaller generations, and a mighty one, known for being independent problem solvers and resilient. The best thing about being 49 is knowing that I have developed wisdom through my experiences, and being able to share that wisdom with others on a daily basis.

What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?

I was intentionally given a lot of freedom by my parents from 6th grade on to set my own goals and to make my own decisions. Knowing somewhat unconsciously that I was ultimately responsible for myself helped me to make wise decisions at an early age about only doing things when I was ready to do them and about taking good care of myself. However, I sometimes waited too long to do things when a small push of encouragement would have gotten me started and given me some guardrails on my journey.

What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?

Visited Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. This is a unique corner of the world. The trees are ancient and wondrous and must continue to be preserved.

What is a trait you are most proud of?

I am humble, devoted, full of integrity, doggedly determined, and very aware.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I could see me the same way others see me.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Maintaining a growth mindset. Removing limiting beliefs and replacing them with beliefs that serve me better. Continuing to gain experiences and to learn new and relevant skills. It is never too late to grow, learn, and thrive.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Ask for more help, coaching, and mentoring. You don’t need to do it alone. Time is precious. Delegate those tasks which you would prefer not to do, to others. Determine what it is that you are both best at and enjoy the most, and maximize those tasks.

What is your motto or favorite quote?

The Universe provides.

Words of wisdom to younger women…

Physical, mental, and emotional health, and healthy relationships are the base of everything else in life. Without health, it’s much more difficult to accomplish what you want, need, and aspire to do. With health, one can reach their full potential.
