What is the best thing about being your age?

Not giving a shit about my age.

What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?

The devasting sudden loss of my mother. Receiving the diagnosis of severe autism for my son. Living with severe autism. It's made me resilient and forced me to live my life intentionally.

What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?

I'm grateful to have traveled to some beautiful places around the world to sing opera. Singing for the King of Thailand was a treat.

​What is your idea of perfect happiness?

I'm not picky. A beautiful and calm day at home with my family, cat and dogs.

​

​What is your most treasured possession?

My children.

​

What advice would you give your younger self?

A man is never worth losing yourself over ever. I once had a guy break up with me because I laughed too loudly. I wish I could go back in time and laugh/scream in his face.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

The ability to make a living through music is in itself a success. Now juggle that with a special needs kid.  My Dad never thought a livable career in music was possible. I'll never forget the look of shock when I told him I was leaving for the conservatory in New York.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My reaction to anything triggering. My deep need to always be the fixer.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Basically, anything I spend on myself. It's gotten easier the older I have gotten.

What is a trait you are most proud of?

My humor. I'm great at laughing at, and through, pain.
