What is the best thing about being your age?

More freedom to be and do whatever I want.

What hardships have you endured that you feel have made you stronger?

Surviving a dysfunctional family of origin, single motherhood, domestic violence, living in turbulent Third World countries, having to do almost everything on my own – these all made me a more spiritual and understanding person.

 

What's your favorite thing you have checked off your bucket list?

Living and working in six very different countries and cultures.

 

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Swimming in calm seas under a sunny sky.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Raising three remarkable sons.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I never hesitate to acquire books or fine tea, or to try a tempting adventure.

What is a trait you are most proud of?

Resilience, tolerance and sensitivity.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Believe in yourself. Reach for the stars. Don't worry so much about money.
